Nanotechnologies to be used by dentists

December 3, 2008

A special meeting of the RosNOU’s scientific and technical council (STC) took place in the conference hall of the Russian New University. Future prospects of nanotechnology application for dental treatment were on the agenda of the meeting.

M.D. Professor Victor Tsarev, Head of the Microbiology Chair of Moscow State Medical and Stomatological University, and M.D. Professor Rafael Ushakov, an implantologist, developed the subject at the meeting.

Emphasizing specific properties of super pure nanotubes, produced in the RosNOU’s carbon nanomaterials laboratory, the guests said they hoped the RosNOU’s STC would render assistance in making their idea a reality.

The RosNOU’s STC accepted the medical experts’ proposal. First of all, the scientists are going to test if nanotechnology application is safe for human health. The scientists of the University’s innovative park will carry out the research in cooperation with experts from special scientific and medical centers.
