Space bridge: RosNOU and I2IT
On October 14th a space bridge between the Russian New University (RosNOU) and the Indian Institute of Information Technology (I2IT) was arranged for the first time. The heads of both universities met to discuss a number of programs that are to become a basis for their future cooperation.
Vladimir A. Minaev, Vice-Rector of RosNOU responsible for educational work, opened the event. He outlined several areas of prospective cooperation between the two educational institutions:
- Educational exchange programs and in-depth training courses for both the I2IT and RosNOU students;
- Mastering together Internship Programs by the students of both educational institutions in India and in Russia;
- Cooperation in the field of scientific research developments and innovation projects.
Vladimir A.Zernov, Rector of RosNOU, opened the event with a speech about scientific research developments and innovation projects of RosNOU scientists. He introduced to the Indian colleagues a device (“Cardiocode”) that enables physicians to get data about the state of human cardiovascular system within a period of a few seconds.
The counterparts from Puna showed great interest in the device. Vladimir A. Zernov promised to send to Puna promptly a detailed description of the device in English.
Evgeniy A. Palkin, Vice-Rector of RosNOU responsible for scientific work, spoke briefly about innovation technologies being developed by RosNOU researchers. They include the following:
- Production of new materials on the basis of carbon nanotubes;
- Development of supercapacitors for hybrid automobile engines;
- Use of carbon nanotubes in the genetic engineering research;
- Development of new wind-power engineering technologies.
Evgeniy A. Palkin added:”We have a few commercial orders for the products which we produce in cooperation with our partners in Russia.”
The CIS “Vector” system introduced in RosNOU attracted special attention of the Indian senior university officials. Sergey Dvoryankin, Vice-Rector of RosNOU responsible for information technologies development, spoke about the system in detail. He said:
— “According to the Microsoft experts from the representative office in Russian, the CIS “Vector” system meets 70 of 80 demands of any educational institution.”
Summing up the space bridge conference, Vladimir A. Minaev said that RosNOU was getting ready to send a new group of RosNOU students who would go to Puna for in-depth training courses in I2IT. And RosNou expects students from Puna to come to Moscow to study at Rosnou.
All the space bridge participants appreciated the joke of Vladimir A. Zernov. Crowning the space bridge conference he “betrayed a secret” of unusually warm weather in Moscow. He said:
“It’s because of the warm and friendly relations between RosNOU and the I2IT that we have such nice weather in Moscow in this season.”
