RosNOU Took Part in a Conference of the International Public Committee of Work with Foreign Students
A conference of the International Public Committee of Work with Foreign Students was held in the Moscow State Academy of Law (MSAL) on October 23. The participants of the conference discussed major issues related to the life of foreigners who came to get education in Russia and, in particular, in Moscow. There were several issues on the agenda: special events arranged for foreign students, an opportunity, proposed by the Committee, of studying at the International School of Youth Diplomacy (at the Moscow State University of Foreign Relations) and participating in the Theatre of Tolerance. A project of the Center for Legal Support is under way in cooperation with the St. Petersburg State University.
Moscow universities recounted their activities.
Elena Soom, Director of the Moscow State Social University Interclub, familiarized the conference participants with the Interclub activities and its goals, which consist of forming the positive world view and attracting the attention of the youth to the problem of interethnic tolerance in Moscow.
At the Moscow Power Engineering Institute they have an Intercouncil which deals with the issues related to foreign students. The Institute carries out festivals and track and field events for all the students, where they get an opportunity to socialize with each other.
A fourth year student of the Moscow State Open University spoke about the organization called “New Wave” which unites students from Kirghizia.
A student of the Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Computer Science spoke about the event called “Russia - Our Common Home”, designed to unite students from different countries. The event is to take place on November 6th.
Representatives of RosNOU took part in the work of the conference. RosNOU is also known as “RUDN Number Two” (Russian University of Peoples’ Friendship ¹ 2), because there are students from Taiwan, Serbia, Montenegro, Syria, China, Turkey, Vietnam, Iran, the Union of Myanmar, and from the CIS countries (the former USSR republics: Kazakhstan, Armenia, Georgia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Belarus), as well as some other states studying at the University. Rosa H. Anopochkina, Head of the Foreign Students Training Department, and Georgy A. Gabrielyan, Head of the International Educational Programs Development Division, spoke about the life of foreign students at the University of RosNOU. They also recounted various cultural events, including the Festival of Peoples’ Friendship.
