RosNOU: a Multinational Community of Students

December 6, 2009

On December 3, 2009 RosNOU staged an annual event — the Nations’ Friendship Day – for the third time.

The University, being open for students from other countries and having strong international ties, can be fairly called a multinational community.

Making a low bow a girl in a national Russian dress welcomed guests with traditional bread and salt at the entrance to the Malachite Hall of RosNOU.

There was arranged a fair of national cuisine in the lobby in front of the entrance doors. Students, wearing traditional national clothes, invited everyone to try meals and dishes traditionally cooked in their countries. This was the beginning of the festival.

Then a succession of greetings from all over the world followed. The Law Department students represented the Jewish Autonomous District. They were dancing “7:40” in such a way, that the Jewish chorus members immediately started their national dance right in the hall. The audience was at a loss whether to watch what was going on at the scene or in the hall.

The guests of RosNOU, dancers from Cuba, inspired the audience by a sketch. The students of RosNOU College sang the song “Parole” in the Italian language. The Business Technology in Tourist and Travel Industry Department students performed a rousing dance which enabled the audience to plunge into the ardent atmosphere of Mexico. The national dance, performed by the RosNOU CIS College students who represented Turkmenistan, was actually a theatrical performance. The Department of Humanities and Foreign Languages, namely linguists, created the atmosphere of China by their performance. And in the end Russian and Chinese students sang the Song of Friendship together.

The Finance and Economics Department Students put on the stage an edifying Tatar fairy tale making a great impression upon the audience. Finally the Information Systems and Computer Technology Department students who represented Japan took the floor. Their performance crowned the festival.

On the whole the event was a great success, because it enabled those present to learn more about the culture of different countries.
