An international scientific conference “Progress in Electromagnetics Research Symposium” (PIERS 2009) is to take place in Moscow on August 18 through 21.

Moscow is to host such an event for the first time. The conference is to be arranged by Moscow Institute of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Automation (MIREA).

The Institute of Radio Engineering and Electronics of Russian Academy of Sciences and Russian New University (RosNOU) are to render organizational support to the conference steering committee. Researchers from The Electromagnetism Academy (USA) will participate in the event.

More than 800 participants are to take part in the PIERS 2009 conference. And the number of papers to be delivered at the Conference is expected to exceed 1000. 

Some of the actions within the framework of the Conference will be held in the premises of RosNOU in Radio Street, 22.

There was published a study by V. Il’in-Minkevich, «Universities’ PR 2009», on the «International Press Club Chumikov PR and Consulting» site. The Russian New University was listed among educational institutions whose practical experience is worth studying.

The awarding of nominees and prize-winners of the Moscow Prize in the sphere of students’ self-government institutions development «Moscow Students’ Activists» took place at the Moscow Students’ Centre. This year the Students’ Council of the Russian New University presented a program in the nomination «The Most Outstanding Students’ Traditions». The program includes four parts: a pilot project of the festival under the name of «The Day of Peoples Friendship», a program «My Personal Choice» (consisting of the track and field relay race «Today I Choose Sports» and «A No-smoking Day» action), presentation stuff of the «Ms and Mr RosNOU» competition and the materials about charitable patronage activities in the orphanage in Pokrov, the region of Vladimir.

The RosNOU program was awarded a diploma of the Moscow Prize in the sphere of students’ self-government institutions development «Moscow Students’ Activists» in the nomination «The Most Outstanding Students’ Traditions».

A decision to appoint a regional curator of the “National innovative system” project was made by the Presidium of “Edinaya Rossiya”(“United Russia”) political council of Moscow regional affiliate in May 2009. D.E., professor Vladimir Zernov, rector of RosNOU and chairman of the Council of the Association of Non-governmental Universities of Russia, was nominated a curator of the project.

During the May holidays RosNOU students go for a traditional two-week training-course in Europe. This year within the framework of “A Tourist Group Guide Program” of the RosNOU Centre of Foreign Languages and Interpreter Training students undertook an in-depth training course including the route “Classic Italy” and “Mediterranean littoral: from Barcelona to San Remo (Spain, France, Italy)”.

A conference of European Association of Higher Education (EURASHE) took place at the University of Economics in Prague on May21-22. The name of the conference was “Cooperation for Innovative Development of Europe: Higher Education, Enterprises and Regions”.
