Wallsall College Delegation Visited RosNOU College
The Russian New University (RosNOU) hosted a delegation of Wallsall College. The delegation visited the RosNOU College on 1 through 4 of June. Robert Grant, director of Department of Teaching and Methods and Cooperation Development, and Alan Lawrence, head of the International Department of the British college, came to examine RosNOU college students participating in a joint tourist program and to discuss the prospects of further cooperation.
The RosNOU and Wallsall College joint program on tourism (Hospitality Management) has been carried out since 2007. On graduating successfully a student gets a Higher National Certificate and acquires an opportunity of getting within a short term a Higher National Diploma at the Wallsall College. Then he or she can enter one of the universities that have signed a partnership agreement with the College. The list of universities includes Keele University, Aston University, the University of Salford, the University of Worcester, the University of Wolverhampton, the University of Huddersfield, the University of Hertfordshire and Northumbria University).
Members of the British expert commission were present at the exams carried out within the framework of the joint program. The Wallsall College representatives were surprised at the high standard of knowledge that RosNOU college students had shown. They had passed quite successfully exams in 3 disciplines.
After the exams Alan Lawrence said: “-I was really surprised that 17-year-old students were able to carry out such profound research on the given topics”.
The commission presented the students with certificates, appreciating high the standard of knowledge of prospective employees in the field of tourism and hospitality industry.
Addressing Irina Zamula, director of the RosNOU College, Robert Grant said: “-We would like to arrange a students’ conference to share their experience as part of our joint program. I’m sure you have much to be proud of!”
During the Moscow visit Alan Lawrence and Robert Grant also acted for a number of West-Midlands (a region in the West of England) colleges at the Russian Olympic Committee.
Robert Grant said: “On the threshold of the coming Olympic Games in Sochi the Olympic Committee is interested in developing programs like the one we are implementing in cooperation with the RosNOU College. And we are pleased very much with it.”
