For the first time in Russia!
The Russian New University (RosNOU) begins to enroll students for a new speciality, «Nanotechnology Management».
This speciality vocational training is arranged with the view of training staff for the companies that apply nanotechnologies, produce and sell science intensive and high-end advanced technology products.
Nanotechnology is one of the major working areas in the Innovation Park of RosNOU. The University also has a nanomaterials laboratory. It was in this laboratory that a special technology of carbon nanotubes production was developed. In May of 2009 professional community members declared the nanotubes to be the purest in the world. There was also developed a glue capable of pasting together materials that never stick together, for instance, Teflon.
Students specializing in nanotechnology have been training at RosNOU since 2007. Innovative managers training courses are also conducted at the University. They are quite popular.
Doctor of Engineering, Professor Valery Irikov, the author of a practical course «Innovative Management», said: “There are many prospective innovative nanotechnology ideas in my students’ degree works. One of these ideas has already been successfully implemented. “Rosnano”, a public corporation, together with RosNOU and one of the formaldehyde resins large-scale producers have started a new product with nanotubes produced at RosNOU as a modifying agent.
-RosNOU is to become the first university in Russia to train future nanomanagers”.
Zurab Otarashvili, head of the RosNOU Innovation Development Department, added: “We want to encourage other universities to introduce curriculums for specialities in nanotechnology. This will give us an opportunity to improve and upgrade in future by sharing experience with each other”.
