UTR and RosNOU are on friendly terms cooperating closely and we are very enthusiastic about it
At the turn of May 2010, RosNOU hosted the Union of Translators of Russia (UTR) conference. Translators from all over Russia came to Moscow on May 27 – 30 to take part in this event. RosNOU also provided its premises for FIT (Federation internationale des traducteurs) to hold its session. It was for the first time in its history that FIT held its session in Russia.
The UTR Conference is a meeting of representatives, sent by regional translator’s unions from different cities of Russia.
FIT(Federation internationale des traducteurs)is a federation of translators and interpreters associations from all over the world. The UTR is an allied member of FIT the primary purpose of which is to provide for favorable conditions of professional translators and interpreters practice and optimize their activities in different countries.
FIT has never held its conferences either in the Soviet Union or in the Russian Federation before. It’s a great honor for RosNOU to be hosting such an event for the first time in the history of FIT. With FIT being an international organization, representatives of different countries will gather at RosNOU to discuss issues of current importance. FIT members, who will not be able to attend the conference (those from Canada, the USA, Austria, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa, China, France, Belgium, Finland, Great Britain, Sweden, India, Indonesia, Argentina), can participate in it virtually by means of video conferencing provided by RosNOU.
Every 4 years the Union of Translators of Russia holds its congress. While being an allied member of the UTR since 2002, RosNOU has already taken part in such events. RosNOU assisted the UTR with organization of various scientific events including the UTR Summer School of Translators.
— Thanks to Vladimir A.Zernov, rector of RosNOU, its teaching staff and students, we have an opportunity to render help to the UTR. The UTR and RosNOU are on friendly terms cooperating closely and we are very enthusiastic about it, said Olga U. Ivanova, dean of the RosNOU Department of Humanities and Foreign Languages.
