Segrey Kapitsa awarded the Order of “Services for the Motherland”

December 2, 2011

—“It is a great honor to be here”, said Sergey Kapitsa while receiving the high prize. He added: “I don’t quite feel I belong here, because I was educated as a scientist and an engineer. But I happened to discover a wonderful audience thanks to television. I believe television has an extraordinary impact we can hardly overestimate. It is more powerful than any atomic bomb, or money, or anything else that has ever been made by man. If we use this power for the welfare of mankind, we could find ourselves in a happy and brand new future. Maybe it is just a hope, or my idealism, I do not know, but I think those people who work in the field of TV broadcasting bear great responsibility.

The Russian New University staff sends their congratulations to Sergey Petrovich Kapitsa and wishes him every success.
