“The timing of exhibitions of Elena Berezina’s paintings often concurs with that of some Russian or international scientific conferences and seminars. At first this happened by coincidence, but after several successful events steering committees of various conferences and seminars began to issue special invitations to Elena. And you won’t fail to see why. Modern researchers try to find scientific explanations of our nonlinear world and Elena Berezina in her creative work is concentrated on the attempts to transform our space. She is in search of the ways to reach beyond the limits of the two-dimensional surface”, said Professor Aleksey Lobanov, Doctor of Physico-Mathematical Science.
Elena Berezina’s paintings are displayed in the central recreation hall on the fourth floor of the main building of RosNOU.

Yaroslav I. Kuz’minov, Rector of the SU-HSE (the State University-Higher School of Economics) and Eugenie G. Yasin, scientific advisor, visited the Russian New University.

New University and CIS’ college, who study German, were invited to participate in a training course in GLS Sprachenzentrum — a German Language School in Berlin. This school is one of the international German language schools for foreigners. The in-depth training was arranged by the Foreign Language and Interpreter Training Center of RosNOU.
This group of RosNOU students took part in a special program, including four-hour German language classes every day. They studied in international groups together with students from Italy, Sweden, Portugal, Rumania, Canada, Brazil and Japan. They also were involved in Christmas and New Year's parties, went on trips, excursions and participated in various recreational activities.
At the end of the training course all the participants got GLS Sprachenzentrum certificates.

Nicholas Masek, Attache for Academic Cooperation of Department of Cooperation and Culture of the Embassy of France in Russia visited RosNOU.

RosNOU officials and the attache had a constructive discussion concerning a prospective expansion of cooperation between RosNOU and French scientific and educational institutions. An emphasis was put on educational packages in the sphere of tourist and travel, hotel and restaurant businesses accepted in Russia and those accepted in France.

A preliminary agreement on the organization of a joint conference between RosNOU (Russia) and a French scientific and educational institution was reached during the meeting. The agenda of the conference is expected to include discussions of the role innovations play in the development of modern society.

A meeting of RosNOU Science and Technology Council was held on Tuesday, December 16th. Corresponding Member of RAS, Professor Edward Son, adviser to the Rector of MIPT and deputy director of the Research Center of Impulse Excitations Thermal Physics addressed the meeting.

The Russian New University made an agreement on cooperation (strategic partnership) with GTI, Ernst and Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers early in December 2008. The University and its new partners plan to collaborate within the framework of the agreement in educational, research and development fields of activities. In addition to that, RosNOU officials signed an agreement with the board of “SOGAZ-LIFE Insurance Company”. The agreement provides for RosNOU students an opportunity to do their practical and pre-graduation work at this company.

A delegation headed by Doctor of Science, Professor Rolf Gartz, Chairman of the Board of Edward Rhine’s Fund, visited the Russian New University. Members of the delegation addressed the scientific and educational community of Moscow.

A special meeting of the RosNOU’s scientific and technical council (STC) took place in the conference hall of the Russian New University. Future prospects of nanotechnology application for dental treatment were on the agenda of the meeting.

A delegation of RosNOU, including Yu. S. Rudenko, Vice-rector for academic issues, O. Yu. Ivanova, Dean of the Department of Humanities and Foreign Languages, and A.V. Biryukova, Director of the Center for International Education (CIE, RosNOU) visited Sun Yat-sen University (Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China).

In the course of the visit the representatives of RosNOU gave model lessons and masterclasses of teaching Russian as a foreign language for teachers and students of the Chinese university. After that the Chinese hosts suggested that RosNOU students studying Chinese should come to China for a linguistic study course for a period from one month to a year.

A theoretical and practical conference “Complexity and self-organization. The future of the world and Russia”, dedicated to the 80 year jubilee of Sergei Pavlovich Kurdyumov (1928-2004), was held in the Russian New University.

Zernov, Head of the RosNOU and a member of the European Academy, S.P.Kapitsa ,Vice-president of the Russian Academy of Natrual Sciences(RANS) and the RosNOU’s research advisor, D.I.Trubetskov, a corresponding member of the RAS, G.G. Malenitskiy, deputy director of Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics of the RAS, Academician S.U.Glaz’ev of the RAS, A.I.Ageev, director general of Economic Strategy Institute of the RAS, S.E. Kurginyan, President of the international public fund “Experimental Creative Center”, V.V. Letunovskiy, the Head of Frontier Service Department of FSB of the RF and others delivered speeches at the conference.
